Large old solid brass bell without a mounting or clapper. This bell measures 6" across at the mouth of the bell and 3 3/4" high. We're not sure of the original use of this bell, it came of an estate near New Glarus, Wisconsin, (Wisconsin's -Little Switzerland-), so it is probably was a cowbell originally, but we've been told that it might have been from a teacher's old schoolhouse hand bell.
This bell does have a 3/8" diameter hole at the top of the bell for a handle mounting and clapper / ringer assembly.
It has a nice patina of tarnish and age.
