Beautiful early 20th century vintage Royal Copenhagen Aluminia faience plates with peacocks pattern in deep blue. We've never seen more than a piece or two in this pattern before, we were thrilled to find this set - such a beautiful blue, and the peacocks!

These dishes are faience pottery, not porcelain china. The feel and weight is much like old majolica, or Quimper from France, or the Delft of Dutch potters. The old Danish faience is certainly equal to any of these in our opinion, and is becoming increasingly difficult to find.

This is a lot of twelve pieces - four plates about 10" in diameter - four plates about 8 3/4" in diameter - four plates about 7 1/2" in diameter. The marks are mostly the stamped KF (Kobenhavns Fajancefabrik), early 20s at our best guess.

These have been used and loved, and do show age and wear. The browning is much the worst on the dinner plates, and the medium sized plates have most of the chips in this lot. The smallest plates look the best.

All of these have crazing to some degree, and there's a number of small chips, though only one plate in the whole lot has a large chip. The browning is noticeable on the dinner plates, but it's not really all that bad overall for pieces nearly 100 years old.
