Near antique early 20th century vintage oriental rug, 64" x 96", with a prayer rug type design. Please forgive us if we have all the wrong terminology here, we love vintage textiles, but know very little about old rugs! I'm floundering here, so please feel free to email us with any info or questions.

We believe this is wool pile, and are unsure of the fiber content of the warp thread (linen? cotton? a fine wool?). I don't follow exactly how to tell anything at all from the knotting, I'm sorry. This came out of the collection of an antique dealer in the Milwaukee Wisconsin area, and we know it has some age. But we know nearly nothing else about it.

It seems as though this is probably a traditional rug pattern in prayer rugs (mosque pillars?) but this seems to be very much larger than a usual prayer rug. We don't know if it's Turkish or Persian, and haven't found any markings. We haven't been able to find a lot of information about this type of rug at all.

This piece was probably used on a floor at some point, but is in good shape without fading or a lot of wear, odor free. We haven't had it cleaned, it's just as found.
