Large antique chisel from an old farm estate. This is a big heavy duty chisel made for cutting the mortise and tenon joints used in building an old fashion post and beam barn. It would probably work for building a log cabin as well. It has socket on the blade (sturdier than a tang) and a heavy iron ring on the end of the handle to keep the handle from splitting when being hit with a mallet. The blade is 2 inches wide and about 6 inches long. Overall, the chisel is about 14 1/2 inches.
There are no chips to the cutting edge, but this is rusty and the wood handle is weathered from years in an old farm workshop.
