Pair of vintage 1940s vintage ring latches and assorted parts from an old farm estate. These latches are for swinging livestock and animal gates in barns, stables and farmyards. These latches are marked "Ring Latch - The Gielow Co. Inc - K.C. M.O. - Pat's Pend." and measure about 7" long. There are also several additional parts and pieces for these latches.
We came across a 1952 United States Department of Agriculture handbook online on the subject of how to improve animal handling services at public stockyards etc. that mentioned and even showed photos of these gate latches.
These are in good condition.
