antique cast iron horse drawn buggy or wagon whip socket holder 

Original vintage old cast iron socket for holding the driving whip on a buggy or farm wagon. This is the original antique whip socket and measures about 5 1/2" high, 1 1/8" across the inside of the whip handle socket and 4 1/2" across the mounting bracket. The end tip of the mounting bracket was broken off many years ago and it was then painted silver.

This is from an old farm estate in Amish country near Portage, Wisconsin.
