Chinese and English landscape seines originated in Delft in the early 1700’s and was loosely modeled after the blue and white Chinese porcelain imports china,

so highly prized a tree of life pattern with fruit. The fruits do resemble onions a little and the onion nickname has stuck for the last 250 years!
