Rare old antique 1920s small press collection of "Orations of Senator James Reed". This is a very small press (or self-published) collection of speeches by Democratic Senator James Reed from Missouri. A number of the pages are mimeographed including a memorial address for William Joel Stone (a Senator who opposed United States involvement in World War I), a eulogy for Champ Clark and an address on "Mother Love".
The collection of about three 1919 speeches by Sen. Reed opposing US membership in the League of Nations are printed on a news print and may be bound copies of leaflets distributed by the senator's office. Sen. Reed opposed the League of Nations on the grounds that it was a surrendering of US sovereignty, The League would be dominated by the British Empire and the monarchies of Asia, citizens of the United States would have substantially smaller representation then much smaller countries (one nation, one vote) and other nationalistic reasons.
There is also a black & white, full page photo of the US Capitol building. This has wear, pages are yellowed and there is water staining from years in an attic.
