lot of antique religious books, Bible history patriarchs, prophets, illustrated commentary etc.

Large lot of six old and antique Christian religious books from the mid and later 1800s. There are:

"Pictorial Bible and Commentator" with a heavily worn embossed and gilt art binding. We're not sure of the exact vintage of this book as the title pages are missing and it begins at the beginning of the introduction" We're guessing that it dates from the 1870s or 1880s. It has 1038 pages and around 350 or more illustrations. The cover is worn, the joints are cracked and cover is coming loose at the front.

Antique 1872 "Sacred Biography and History or Illustrations of the Holy Scriptures containing Descriptions of Palestine, Ancient and Modern - Lives of the Patriarchs, Kings and Prophets and of Christ and The Apostles - Sketches of the ruins of the celebrated cities Palmyra, Nineveh, Jerusalem". This book has an embossed and gilt art binding and 637 as well as many illustrations and engraved plates. The cover is worn and the back joint is cracked.

An old copy of John Bunyan's "The Pilgrim's Progress" with engraved plates. We're not sure of the date (there isn't any date we can find), but we're guessing late 1800s. There is wear to the cover and the back joint is cracked.

An 1866, Civil War vintage Bible with an embossed leather cover. The pages are spotted and the front cover board is loose.

1868 "Evening by Evening - Readings at Eventide - For the Family or the Closet" by C.H. Spurgeon. A 400 page collection of inspirational readings / sermons, each with a preceding bible quote. There is a name on the front endpaper.

1895 "How Christ Came to Church - A Spiritual Autobiography" by A.J. Gordon, D.D. This book is published by the American Baptist Publication Society.
