Very nice old handmade basket, from a farm estate in northern Illinois. This measures 17 1/2" long x 11 1/2" wide over the basket, 11 3/4" tall to the top of the handle, basket is 7 1/2" deep.
Maybe this was a gathering or garden basket, or maybe a market basket... it's nice and big, but we have no idea what it was originally intended for! It has a great patina, with old brown paint. These has a few broken spots to the weaving, but is sturdy overall, and very useable yet.
