Small very early electric lamp for mantel or parlor table, with a glazed ceramic base and ornate metal decoration and feet. This we think was entirely covered with a gilt or gold colored finish to begin with, though the gold is now worn and darkening.
The lamp measures 10 1/2" tall to the top of the light bulb socket, and was designed to fit a clip-on lamp shade over the light bulb. (The socket looks to us to be a 1940's or 50's replacement... vintage, but not contemporary in period to the rest of the lamp, or the lamp's wiring. It holds a standard size base light bulb.)
The cloth covered electrical wirng is original to the light, is is now very worn and frayed, though still has the good old electric plug.
