Large old, mid-century vintage, electric school bell or fire alarm. This bell is 10" across the steel bell and is made by "Auth Electric Co Inc. - Long Island City, NY". The bell ringer base is marked as "Type 1742" and is rated for 120 volts, 0.06 amps and 7.2 watts. This has a 5" pigtail cord with a standard electric plug. We've tested this bell and it rings well.

The bell is steel and the base is cast aluminum or zinc. There is a bend to the mounting flange on the base and wear to the old red and black paint.
