Lovely spalt spotted wood bowl, hand turned from burl wood, judging by the grain structure, though we aren't sure what type of wood this is. It seems too light in weight to be walnut, we think? This came to us from a farm estate in Wisconsin, and walnut is usually a popular choice here. It's been stained with a colored finish over the natural wood, and it's hard to tell the original color beneath that.
The bowl measures about 9 3/4" in diameter x 3 1/2" deep. It's in excellent shape, no warping, checking to the wood, or scratching.
