This mystery stamper has us stumped! It's a very old, very primitive iron foot shape with a rough wood spoke handle, measuring 8" long over the iron foot, 22" tall to the top of the wood 'leg' handle.

If it's a shoe form, the shoes from its shape would have been very strange indeed! We can't imagine anyone would have put this much effort and design into a masher / tamper, so then we come to our last idea. Perhaps this was a marker of some sort for making 'footprints'? The surface seems as though it would have been very difficult to clean of cement, or paint, or even mud.

If you know what this is, please email us - we'd love to know more about this piece!
