old antique brass and cloth 50ft tape measure, surveyor / carpenter's tool

Old antique hand crank tape measure from and old farm estate. The case for this tape measure is steel with brass around the edge and a solid brass crank. The old measuring tape is cloth. The brass rim of the tape case is marked "50ft".

The cloth tape is marked as inches and feet (for example "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 20 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 21 1 2" etc.) and would have been used around the farm for surveying or for carpentry work such as laying out fences, building barns and out buildings, and general carpentry.

This has a great patina of age. The old cloth measuring tape is tied off with a knot at the end. It is missing part of the original tape (the foot markers begin at 18 feet), and the center winding spool and crank is loose and wobbles a bit.
