1800s vintage wide lace flounce... we believe this is silk, probably French or Belgian, but aside from that, we can''t tell you much about it! We don't find a lot of fine lace fabrics here in the rural midwest, and lace types are not my specialty.

The color is very even and deep, almost a golden brown shade. It's very fine and light, but does not seem to be at all brittle or shredding. It's 8" deep, with a chain pattern at the top edge, not cut. Original scalloped hem is worn but complete, also uncut.

There's two lengths in this lot, one is 1 yard long, one is 1 1/2 yards sewn into a loop. The pattern looks like embroidery on a very fine net, fine cord threads around the outside edges of the flowers etc. and forming the stems.
